Import/Export your search forms between WordPress websites

1. Exporting the Search Forms :

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel on the website where the search forms exists.
  2. Navigate to “Tools => Export” in the WordPress admin menu.
  3. In the Export screen, select “PM. Search Forms” as the content type. Since the search forms are treated as a custom post types in WordPress, they will be included in the export.
  4. Click on the “Download Export File” button to download the XML file containing your search forms .

2. Importing the Search Forms :

  1. Log in to the WordPress admin panel on the new website where you want to import the search forms.
  2. If the “Import” plugin isn’t installed, you can follow steps (a, b & c) to install it. Otherwise, proceed to step 3 below:
    1. Navigate to “Tools => Import” in the WordPress admin menu.
    2. You’ll see a list of available importers. Look for “WordPress” in the list and click on the “Install Now” link below it.
    3. Once installed, click on the “Run Importer” link to start importing your content.
  3. After installing the Importer plugin (if needed), click on the “Run Importer” link or navigate to “Tools => Import”.
  4. Click on the “Choose File” button and select the XML file you exported earlier.
  5. Click on the “Upload file and import” button.
  6. In the next screen, you’ll have the option to assign imported content to an existing user or create a new user. Choose the appropriate option.
  7. Click on the “Submit” button to start the import process.

3. Verifying the Import:

  1. Once the import process is complete, you’ll see a success message.
  2. Navigate to the “Progress Map => All search forms” in the WordPress admin menu to view the imported search forms and verify that they have been successfully imported.
  3. You can also check individual search forms to ensure that all content and settings have been transferred correctly.
